To analyze and correct electrical problems and repair and overhaul electrical equipment and controls.

Job Title: Electric Line Specialist
Billet No:2005-007

Summary Statement:
Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000. This position is in the Electric Operation Unit. You will need to have knowledge: Basic Street Light Principles/Systems.
Construction Standards/Materials.
Distribution Switching Methods.
Electrical Systems/Equipment.
Emergency System Repair Methods.
Hazardous Materials Guidelines/Requirements.
Metering Principles/Practices.


Education:
High School Diploma / GED. Two or more years' experience working as a journey level line technician. Commercial Driver's License; CPR Certification; First Aid Certification; Flagger Certification; Voltage Requirements Certificate.


Experience:
Operating equipment including trouble trucks, voltage tester, switching devices and hand tools.
Reading maps and blueprints.
Troubleshooting electrical systems.
Performing physical aspects of line construction and maintenance.
Interpreting specifications, schematics and written instructions.
Installing and maintaining electrical distribution and transmission systems.
Completed Lineman Apprenticeship, and have two to four years experience working as a journey level line technician.

Physical and/or Other Requirements:
Must operate honestly and ethically, able to build trust. Produces quality, accurate, prompt, and reliable results and able to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and verbally.
Work in hazardous areas close to energized lines and underground vaults. Work in inclement weather and subject to 24-hour calls, work overtime, shifts, holidays, and weekends as scheduled.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for performing a wide variety of specialized duties as a troubleshooter, without access to immediate supervision.
Will quickly and correctly respond to emergency outages and calls for service, identifying problems and making or arranging for repairs.
Individual must maintain knowledge of current distribution system changes and modifications, follow established field switching procedures.
Communicate effectively with customers, Distribution System Operators, and other department field and supervisory personnel.

Summary Statement:
Conduct, maintain, test and repair electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Knowledge of electrical principles in determining equipment malfunction and apply proven skills in restoring equipment to operation. Advise operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical equipment and components. Inform operators and line mechanics of potential electrical problems.

Education:
High school diploma or 2 year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program in a technical fields is required.

Experience:
4 - 5 years of experience in the electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency (must pass proficiency test). Experience and ability to work in a fast - paced manufacturing environment.

Physical and/or Other Requirements:
Must be in good physical condition. Able to lift 50 pounds. Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with electrical components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
Working with PLC programming are necessary.
Assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.
